Garden Terrace at Overland Park introduced community members and residents’ families to our new nursing leaders at a Meet-and-Greet on Jan. 24, 2017.
Guests got to visit with our new director of nursing, Christy Burns, and assistant director of nursing, Jennifer Plumberg, as well as enjoy refreshments and tour the building.
Here is a little bit about them:
Christy Burns, RN, graduated from the Johnson County Community College School of Nursing in 2000. She has worked for Overland Park Regional Medical Center and Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Christy has been the DON at a short-term rehabilitation facility, as well as at another long-term care facility on its memory care unit. Christy became the director of nursing at Garden Terrace at Overland Park in November 2016. “I really enjoy working with the aging, dementia population,” Burns said. “This population of geriatrics has always had a special place in my heart.”
Jennifer Plumberg, RN, has been the assistant director of nursing at Garden Terrace since November 2015. Jennifer earner her RN degree from Kansas City (Kansas) Community College and her BSN from Wichita State University. She has worked in pediatric neurology, family practice and long-term care. “I wanted to work at Garden Terrace because I wanted to be a part of something great, something that makes a difference in my community and the lives of others,” said Plumberg. “Our care here is far above standard, and our team members put their whole heart into it every day.”
Debbie Biehl, executive director at Garden Terrace at Overland Park, said, “With their experience in dementia care and working with dementia patients, they will make a great team. Christy and Jennifer bring a new perspective and new ideas in implementing exceptional care for our residents. We are excited to have them as our nursing administration team at Garden Terrace at Overland Park!”
